16th International Modern Music Festival 'Afekt'

From October 27 to November 1, 2017, the International Modern Music Festival 'Afekt' will be held in Tartu and Tallinn.

'Afekt 2017' presents modern music by top interprets and ensembles from classics to some of the freshest themes that are dominating the international stages at the moment.

For the first time in Estonia, the symphonic works of Pierre Boulez and Gérard Grisey are heard in the performance of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and Swiss conductor Baldur Brönnimann. At the Rotermann Salt Storage, the Trio Accanto will premiere the works of Helena Tulve, the Estonian composer, and Michael Finnissy, the living classic from the UK.

'Afekt' offers various programmes for listening and watching, audiovisual and musical theater-focused concerts, important works of experimental music, programmes dedicated to the fresh neo conceptualism.

Concerts will take place at Tallinn Telliskivi Creative Space, Open Space, Club of Different Rooms in Tallinn and Tartu, Tartu St. Paul's Church, Tartu GenClub, and other places.

Some of the most important performers of the festival are Schallfeld Ensemble (Austria), Trio Accanto (Germany), soprano, performance artist Sirje Viise (Berlin), the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, ansambel U:, organist Ulla Krigul and Yxus Ensemble, Afekt Soloists, etc.

The author's nights of internationally renowned composers, Erkki-Sven Tüür and Michael Finnissy, and much more exciting.
