Festival "Towers of Tallinn 2018"

Festival "Towers of Tallinn" brings together the history of ancient Tallinn and contemporary oeuvre, introducing the city's famous silhouette inside out through different eras of music.

The festival was initiated in 2011 when Tallinn was The European Capital of Culture and it is bringing joy to our audience already for the eight time. This year’s brilliant performers will give you a musical journey from the renaissance and baroque era through classical organ pieces to the contemporary jazz improvisations.

In the mild summer evenings audience can enjoy the beautiful duet of countertenor and guitar, the charming father-daughter music making and delightful organ music.

Thu, August 23
7 p.m., Church of the Holy Spirit (Pühavaimu 4, Tallinn)

Concert "Nocturnal. Dowland and Shakespeare"
PERFORMERS: Ivo Posti (countertenor) and Kristo Käo (guitar)
PROGRAMME: wonderful songs for countertenor from the eras of English renaissance and baroque (J. Dowland, Th. Morley, H. Purcell etc.) and excerpts from B. Britten’s famous piece for solo guitar "Nocturnal. After Dowland". Exhilarated evening concert under the vaults of an ancient church.

TICKET: 10/7 € from Piletilevi and one hour before the concert at the venue, if available.

7 p.m., Kiek in de Kök (Komandandi tee 2, Tallinn)

Concert "Duo de la Soirée"
PERFORMERS: Liis Lutsoja (violin) and Jaak Lutsoja (accordion)
PROGRAMME: father’s and daughter’s magical accordion-jazz violin soundscape. Unconventional and exciting musical symbiosis will perform both - their own creation but also arrangements from French waltzes to the music from the Caribbean in Tallinn’s most famous city wall tower.

Concert "Organ music through several centuries"
PERFORMER: Aivar Sõerd (organ)
PROGRAMME: magnificent organ concert delights you with musical gems from baroque to romanticism (G. Jullien, F. Tunder, J. S. Bach, D. Buxtehude, C. Franck, R. Tobias etc.). A pleasant afternoon in the company of good music, which is brought to you by the member of Estonian parliament Aivar Sõerd who recently acquired a master’s degree in Estonian Academy of Music and Theater.

FREE ENTRY: the concert is without tickets, but a voluntary donation to support the festival is appreciated.
